The National Hand Dance Association presents
"Hand Dance and Lindy Hop: The Evolution of a DC Tradition" at Arena Stage, 1101 6th St. SW from 11 am to 6 pm. This event will bring together the pioneers of the original Lindy Hop who danced at the historic Savoy Ballroom from the 1930s until its closing in 1958 with legends in Hand Dance (the Official Dance of the District of Columbia) Lindy Legends include Norma Miller (the Queen of Swing), George Sullivan, Sugar Sullivan and Sonny Allen.  The day's activities include a panel discussion, hand Dance and Lindy Hop basic lessons, dance demonstrations, a swing jam session and hand dancing. The event begins with a Flash Mob Hand Dance and Swing Dance outside of the Arena Stage at 11:00 a.m.  FREE
