Around the World Embassy Tour, when 52 non-European embassies -- from the League of Arab States to Zambia — will welcome visitors. (For fans of Europe, the Shortcut to Europe Open House is May 10.) Some logistics: Most embassies are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; actual passports are not required, though many embassies require photo ID; and shuttle buses will be available for travel between embassies. Participating embassies for 2014:  African Union, League of Arab States, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Colombia, Republic of Congo, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Federated States of Micronesia, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Kitts and Nevis, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zambia. Admission is free and reservations are not required.

The first annual Funk Parade on U St. from 5  to 7 (with a pre-parade fair from 1 to 5) will include:

- The Ballou High School Marching Band;  Batala Percussion Band; - Asheru;  Hung Tao Choy Mei Lion and Dragon dancers;  Yamomanem Jazz; - BicycleSPACE riders  and the world’s first FLASH MOP, a spontaneous clean-and-dance civic action squad!

Radio broadcaster Felix Grant was a familiar voice to Washington, D.C. listeners for nearly 50 years. His early interest in and fascination with Brazilian culture and music played a pivotal role in introducing bossa nova to the United States. This multimedia exhibit includes photographs, concert programs and awards, as well as unique interviews of prominent artists such as João Gilberto, Leny Andrade, Sergio Mendes and Dorival Caymmi. Together they provide a glimpse into Brazilian music of this period
